and fakes a suicide attempt. When she returns home with her best friend Jen
(Sarah Burns), she gets more than she bargained for from sympathetic friends
in the form of tears, food, and even porn.

Feature Film: THE PEOPLE I’VE SLEPT WITH

The People I’ve Slept With is a sexy, romantic story about Angela (Karin Anna Cheung of Better Luck Tomorrow), a young woman with a zealously active sex life, who after every sexual conquest, makes keepsake “baseball cards” of each of her male conquests. One day, Angela finds out she is pregnant and begins a quest to find the identity of the father. Together with her gay best friend and co-worker Gabriel (Wilson Cruz of He’s Just Not That Into You, My So-Called Life), the two go on a comical and raunchy hunt through her past hook-ups and dates to find her “baby daddy.” But as Angela peels back the layers of her frisky past, she begins to realize that the answers she is looking for, reveal themselves in surprising ways.

Short Film: Last Call
One year, five months. That’s the time it’s taken Gavin to get to today; that’s how long he’s been sober so that he can get back to Mark, the love of his life. But fate has something else in mind when Gavin is killed on his way to reconciling with Mark. A recovering alcoholic, Gavin ends up in a bar where the mysterious Bartender lets him re-live three memories from his life to show the quality of his character. Gavin takes the offer and shows The Bartender love, heartbreak, and every intention to make things right. He soon finds, as always, fate has something else in mind.

Feature Film: BABY JANE?

Two twisted sisters live in their own self-made hell. “Baby Jane?” takes its cue from the original cult classic starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford… but with hilarious and macabre... unexpected twists and turns.

The film begins with Baby Jane as a famous child star, then transitions to her failed attempt at becoming a big fat movie star like her sister Blanche, until a tragic gate accident makes Blanche’s spine...kinda snap. Baby Jane tragically gives up her career to take care of her disabled sister, waiting on her hand and foot, every gawd damn day!
When a revival of Blanche’s old movies appear on TV (a parody of Mommie Dearest), the nosey neighbor Mrs Bates comes by to bother Baby Jane about how excited she must be that her sister’s career has made a comeback. This is the straw that broke the camel’s back, Baby Jane snaps, she has had enough! We watch her slowly unravel, taking it out on her poor disabled sister Blanche, the housekeeper Elvira (Blanche’s secret “special friend”), Mrs Bates and her ding dong daughter Gloria. All through this, Blanche plays the melodramatic victim when in actuality, is she just a manipulating bitch?

Short Film: GayKeith
GAYKEITH is the outrageous short film written and directed by Leslie Hope based on the 'mostly true' short story by Scott Edgecombe. Meet Scott: a 260 pound red-headed, fun-lovin', bi-polar, hockey-playin' sexual deviant who recently turned forty and who has spent the last 15 years living in Los Angeles, out of work and overweight. No job, no girlfriend, a lot of cereal and too much internet porn. On a particularly lonely Christmas Eve, Scott decides the answer to all his problems may lie in North Hollywood-his name is Keith and he's willing to wear pantyhose if Scott comes over.

Feature Film: CHILDREN OF GOD

Set against the backdrop of a nation grappling with violent homophobic crime and offering a scathing examination of the underlying hatred for gays rampant in Caribbean societies, Bahamian Kareem Mortimer’s debut narrative feature tells the stories of three very different individuals: Lena, the conservative, deeply religious wife of a secretly gay firebrand pastor; Romeo, a handsome young black man hiding his sexuality from his close-knit and loving family; and Jonny, the conflicted and creatively-blocked white artist in search of himself. All three head for the spectacularly beautiful and tranquil island of Eleuthera, each with a different reason for escaping current circumstances. Soon, their disparate worlds collide in unexpected and affecting ways. This uncommon portrayal of love, loneliness, tolerance, secrets and self-acceptance takes viewers on a poignant multifaceted journey that is enlightening, courageous, and disquieting all at the same time, and which shocks to the very core with its startling conclusion.

2:30PM
Short Film: PIRATE SCUM
A disgustingly unhygienic pirate named Cap'n Crusty has a crew bent on pillaging, staying up past midnight, and doing what they please. Their dirty deeds spread terror among the moral townspeople. When nothing can stop their sinful agenda, unthinkable consequences happen. "Pirate Scum" is 5 minutes of lovingly hand-crafted 2D animation made in Patrick Lake's kitchen and at various San Francisco cafes between late 2009 and May 2010. It features the voice of Mo Mellady, AKA "Erin Esurance" from the animated ad campaign, plus cartoon boobs, guns and explosions. Yarrrg!

Feature Film: ROLE/PLAY

When hunky soap opera star Graham Windsor (Steve Callahan; East Side Story, Make the Yuletide Gay, Nine Lives) is outed as the result of a gay sex tape scandal, he seeks refuge at an exclusive Palm Springs resort. But quiet anonymity eludes him when handsome marriage-equality activist Trey Reed (Matthew Montgomery; Redwoods, Back Soon, Pornography: A Thriller) checks in to escape the fallout from his own bitter divorce. As an undeniable passion begins to sizzle between Graham and Trey, they force each other to confront their professional downfalls - and the firestorm each has created in the gay press.
The film also stars David Pevsner, Brian Nolan, Matthew Stephen Herrick and and Jim J. Bullock.

It's a Wrap!

It's a wrap for Cinema Diverse 2009, and from all reports, a good time was had by all. Better yet, event organizers reported that the Second Edition of Palm Springs' LGBT Film Festival was an overall success.

"With a shorter festival we knew we wouldn't match last year's numbers," said Thomas Ethan Harris, Festival Artistic Director and Head Programmer. "But for the most part our numbers were up when you compared the screening times year to year. We're pleased that the community c… Continue
